In a recent survey by the consumer experts at Which?, Kefalonia was crowned the best Greek island. With its azure seas, golden beaches and emerald-coloured mountains, it’s not hard to see why the largest of the Ionian islands topped the poll.

In their survey, Which? asked more than 1,000 travellers to rate the 10 main Greek islands based on several factors, such as the beaches, attractions, scenery and value for money.

Kefalonia was the only island to achieve a 5 star rating for the peace and quiet category, with an overall score of 85%.

The stunning and secluded beach at Erisos, near Fiskardo, is a particular highlight. The quiet beach is found on the edge of a forest, offering shade and a unique feel.

The final ranking of the top ten islands was;

1 – Kefalonia

2 – Lefkada

2 – Skiathos

4 – Crete

5 – Corfu

6 – Kos

7 – Zakynthos

8 – Rhodes

9 – Santorini

10 – Mykonos

It’s great to see some of the lesser-known islands appearing so far up the list. With over 220 inhabited islands in Greece, there is always somewhere new to discover and explore.
