If you are looking for some inspiration for some more adventurous destinations, we are here to help. We’ve profiled three more unusual destinations for you to consider when booking your next trip.

Singapore

The Republic of Singapore is an island country and city-state located in Southeast Asia that has built a reputation as a great place to visit for its highly developed nature compared to other countries in the region.

Their Gardens by the Bay is an engrossing fantasy land and urban park spanning 105 hectares (260 acres), which was named the eighth best attraction in the world by Tripadvisor and welcomes over 50 million visitors a year who marvel at the biodomes, supertrees and sculptures.

The street food is exquisite and easily found at one of the many open-air hawker centers, which are considered so culturally significant that they were recognised by UNESCO’s Intangible Heritage list in 2020.

Singapore’s airport – the Jewel Changi Airport – has become an attraction in its own right for its forest valley, rain vortex and canopy park. The rain vortex is the world’s largest and tallest indoor waterfall at 40 metres (130 feet) high, while the walking net is suspended 25 metres above ground level.

Tunisia

Tunisia is an increasingly popular country for visitors found in North Africa nestled between Algeria and Libya. Just under a three-hour flight from London is the capital Tunis, boasting an impressive medieval medina with numerous soaks selling a huge variety of goods from shoes to shisha pipes.

The Bardo Museum is another big draw in Tunis, showcasing a magnificent collection of Roman mosaics housed in an imposing palace complex built in the Middle Ages and fortified by the Ottomans in the 18th century. There are also parklike ruins of ancient Carthage – once one of the most important trading hubs in the Ancient Mediterranean – that sit in the northern suburbs of the city.

Tunisia is also burgeoning a reputation as a country of golden sandy beaches which are showcased in the beach reports of Sousse, Monastir, Mahdia and Hammamet – renowned as a popular spot for swimming and watersports.

Croatia

Croatia is a gem of the Adriatic Sea that has quickly grown into one of the best places to visit in Europe following its independence in 1991. Dubrovnik is a picturesque starting point for visitors in the south thanks to its stunning old town, which retains its original walls that can be walked around showcasing dramatic views. The area has also found popularity as the filming location for the fictional city of King’s Landing in the TV show Game of Thrones. Dubrovnik offers several options for islands which can be easily visited for day trips, with Lokrum one of the best.

Split is the sporty second-largest city of Croatia, home of football club Hadjuk Split and where some well-renowned athletes are from such as tennis player Goran Ivanisevic and ex-wrestler Nikolai Volkoff. Split is a great place to sample Dalmatian life with an array of great restaurants and eateries at your disposal.

Zadar is found in the middle of the country and known for its Roman and Venetian ruins of the old town, while the capital Zagreb is the biggest city in the country and a hotbed of government administration.

A green oasis well worth a visit is the Plitvice Lakes National Park, which offers a great cycling route within it to reach the waterfalls where swimmers can cool off in the summer.
